infants & toddlers

Infant and young toddler schedules are less structured than those for older children. Daily structure for the infant and young toddler programs revolves around important care routines. In an infant room, especially, there are several schedules being followed throughout the day depending on individual needs.

  • We provide a safe and nurturing environment with quiet, engaging toys for infants and toddlers to play with during arrival times. This setup allows caregivers to warmly greet families, perform thorough health checks, and engage in meaningful conversations with parents, ensuring smooth and comfortable transitions for every child.

  • We prioritize the individual needs of every child, especially during diapering and toileting routines. For the youngest children, diapering is done on demand to ensure comfort and hygiene. For older infants and toddlers, we establish regular diapering and toileting schedules, helping to create consistency and support successful toilet training as toddlers develop independence.

  • We focus on meeting the nutritional needs of all children in a caring and developmentally appropriate way. Young infants are fed according to their unique schedules to ensure comfort and nourishment. For older infants and toddlers, we provide scheduled meals, including breakfast, lunch, and mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks. Family-style dining is encouraged for older infants and toddlers, promoting self-help skills, independence, and the development of oral language through social interaction during mealtimes. To support parents, we provide a detailed menu outlining the nutritious and balanced food options available at our Alpharetta preschool.

  • We prioritize each child’s unique needs, especially when it comes to rest. Young infants follow their own individualized sleep schedules to ensure they get the rest they need for healthy development. Toddlers enjoy a scheduled quiet time or nap time after lunch, creating a consistent routine that fosters relaxation and helps recharge their energy for the remainder of the day.

  • We schedule multiple opportunities throughout the day for children to engage in play and exploration, promoting a well-rounded developmental experience. These activities are carefully balanced between active and quiet times to meet the needs of every child. Indoors, we provide a variety of age-appropriate play materials that foster creativity, learning, and social skills. Outdoors, children enjoy access to a safe, age-appropriate play area designed to encourage physical activity and exploration of the natural world. Our thoughtfully planned playtimes nurture cognitive, social, and physical growth, making each day a rewarding experience for every child.

  • We create engaging group times tailored to nurture the growth and learning of toddlers. Mid to late morning and afternoon group activities are carefully scheduled, providing opportunities for children to enjoy interactive experiences such as sharing picture books, singing songs, and participating in finger plays. These sessions are conducted in small groups of two or three toddlers at a time to ensure personalized attention and foster meaningful social interactions. By incorporating these activities into our daily routine, we support language development, motor skills, and early literacy in a fun and encouraging environment designed to help every child thrive.

  • Infants and toddlers at our center enjoy daily access to a safe, stimulating outdoor environment designed to foster exploration, play, and connection with nature. With outdoor time scheduled in both the morning and afternoon, children have ample opportunities to enjoy fresh air, engage in physical activity, and participate in sensory-rich experiences. Our thoughtfully designed, age-appropriate outdoor spaces encourage healthy development, spark curiosity, and promote social interaction. These outdoor activities help enhance motor skills, build creativity, and create a balanced and enriching experience, making every day at our Alpharetta preschool fun and meaningful for each child.

  • We create a smooth and organized transition during going-home times by offering infants and toddlers a variety of engaging choices, such as soft books, board books, and quiet play materials. These carefully selected items not only keep children calm and occupied but also create a peaceful end to their day. This approach allows our staff to provide attentive care to each child while being readily available to communicate with parents and address any questions or updates. Additionally, it gives staff time to gather children’s belongings, ensuring a seamless and stress-free departure experience for families.
